Every Schindler elevator, escalator, and moving walk is independently certified before installation. Our compliance portfolio spans safety, environmental, and quality management standards across all major markets.
Third-party certification is a structural requirement of our product development process, not a post-production checkbox. All listed certifications are independently audited on a recurring basis.
ISO 9001:2015
Quality Management System
Schindler's design, manufacturing, installation, and service operations are certified to ISO 9001:2015 by Bureau Veritas. The standard mandates documented procedures for design control, supplier qualification, non-conformance handling, and continuous improvement. Scope covers all product lines globally.
ISO 14001:2015
Environmental Management System
Our environmental management system addresses energy consumption in manufacturing, chemical use, waste generation, and the in-service energy efficiency of installed products. The regenerative drive technology in Schindler escalators and high-rise elevators directly supports ISO 14001 objectives by reducing net energy consumption per ride cycle.
ASME A17.1 / CSA B44
Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators (North America)
The primary safety standard for elevator and escalator installation in the United States and Canada. Covers structural loading, safety gear, governors, buffers, door interlocks, and electrical systems. All Schindler products installed in North American markets meet the current edition of ASME A17.1. Seismic requirements per ASME A17.1 Section 8.4 are addressed for applicable geographic zones.
EN 81-20 / EN 81-50
Safety Rules for Construction and Installation of Lifts (Europe)
EN 81-20 defines essential safety requirements for passenger lifts manufactured and installed in Europe. EN 81-50 covers design rules and calculations for lift components. These standards replaced the older EN 81-1/2 in 2017. Schindler's European product range is CE-marked under the Lifts Directive 2014/33/EU with notified body certification from TÜV SÜD.
EN 115-1
Safety Rules for Escalators and Moving Walks
Governs the design, manufacture, installation, and testing of escalators and moving walks in Europe. Schindler 9300 and other escalator series are certified to EN 115-1:2008+A1:2010, with additional testing to EN 115-2 for maintenance requirements. Public-space heavy-duty variants (airports, transit) are tested to the elevated duty cycle requirements within this standard.
LEED Compliant
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design — Contribution Credits
Schindler elevator and escalator systems contribute to LEED v4 credit categories including Energy & Atmosphere (EA Credit: Optimize Energy Performance) and Materials & Resources (MR Credit: Building Product Disclosure). Documentation packages are available for LEED submission upon request, specifying applicable credit contributions per product model.

Request Certification Documents
Full certification documentation available for LEED submissions, contractor compliance files, and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) packages.
Request DocumentsEngineering calculations verified by independent structural and mechanical review before prototype build.
Physical prototypes tested to 125% of rated load across all safety functions per applicable standard.
Each unit undergoes documented inspection at key production stages. Non-conformances trigger hold-and-review protocol.
Third-party auditors conduct unannounced and scheduled audits across manufacturing and service operations annually.
We provide complete certification packages for LEED submissions, building permit applications, and AHJ inspections — at no charge to verified project stakeholders.
